Images connect the mind and soul in a way that words alone cannot. Each journey through life is unique, yet there is more that unites us than divides us. The details vary from person to person, but the essentials are universal—struggles and successes, suffering and joy, low points and high points. BIRTHCAGE leads to the realization that there is strength in vulnerability and that, no matter how difficult life may be, darkness does not have to define us.

From the start, Borislava envisioned BIRTHCAGE as a fusion of words and pictures. As she wrote each story, she also imagined the photograph that would accompany it—the one that would capture its themes and emotions. Alongside these pairings, she integrated statistics that placed personal experiences within a broader context. The stories, photographs, and data created a layered narrative that bridges the individual and the universal.

Borislava shaped both the written and visual storytelling, ensuring that every element deepened the emotional impact of the project. The photographs taken by Emmanuel Novelo helped bring these concepts to life by capturing the essence of each moment. This interplay of words, images, and data invites audiences into a thought-provoking and immersive experience, offering a unique perspective on the shared human condition.

The result is a powerful fusion of personal reflection and collective truth, where storytelling, photography, and statistics converge to create a compelling and resonant narrative.
